Kai 7250SL Slim Line 10" Professional Shears are purpose-built for serious sewing enthusiasts who regularly tackle thicker, more demanding fabrics. This lighter, highly maneuverable scissor doesn’t compromise on cutting performance, giving you the control you need for clean, precise trims without the fatigue. Smart design meets serious cutting power
The 7250SL belongs to Kai’s 7000 Professional Series, crafted from high carbon, hardened stainless steel. That carbon content enables a steeper cutting angle, producing a sharper edge that lasts longer under heavy use. The result is a scissors pair that handles hefty fabrics with ease while maintaining the nimble feel you expect from a slimmer line design. Why the Slim Line matters—and who benefits
Balanced weight for comfort: at 6.8 ounces, these shears strike an ideal balance between leverage and control, helping you maintain precision through long cuts, seams, and tricky curves.
Slim Line profile: the narrow silhouette excels in tight spaces, layered fabrics, and intricate trimming, making it a reliable ally when navigating complex patterns or multi-layer projects.
Edge longevity for thick fabrics: the carbon-enhanced edge stays sharper longer, so you won’t need to resharpen as often when working with denim, heavy twill, or heavy knits.
Versatile by design: while built to tackle thicker materials, the 10" length remains a sweet spot for general dressmaking, tailoring, and quilting tasks that demand accuracy without sacrificing speed.
Ideal use cases
Whether you’re preparing denim panels, cutting heavyweight canvas for upholstery projects, or trimming layered fabrics for a precise seam, the 7250SL delivers consistent, dependable cuts. It’s especially valuable when you need to snip along curved seams, notch corners, or trim within bulky hems where bulkier scissors crowd the work area. What makes this Kai different from other shears
Edge-focused construction: the combination of high carbon content and hardened stainless steel creates a durable cutting edge that maintains its sharpness under tough fabrics, reducing the need for frequent sharpening.
Thoughtful ergonomics: the slim line cut and balanced weight are designed to minimize hand strain, making it feasible to complete larger cutting sessions with comfort.
Professional-grade reliability: built to perform consistently across a range of sewing disciplines—from garment construction to home decor—so you can rely on one pair for multiple projects.
Care, maintenance, and practical tips
To preserve performance and edge life, wipe the blades after use to remove fabric fibers and moisture. A light application of manufacturer-recommended oil can help prevent rust and keep the pivot smooth. Store in a dry place and avoid dropping the shears, which can misalign the cutting edge. If you notice the edge dulling over time, light sharpening aligned with the original bevel angle will restore precision without compromising the blade’s integrity. Who should consider the Kai 7250SL
Designed for sewists, tailors, quilters, and hobbyists who regularly work with thicker fabrics and layered textiles. If you value a lighter, highly maneuverable shear that still delivers professional-grade edge retention and cutting performance, the 7250SL is a compelling choice. It’s equally well-suited for professional studios and dedicated hobbyists who demand reliability and comfort in long cutting sessions. Conclusion: a dependable partner for challenging cuts
The Kai 7250SL Slim Line 10" Professional Shears bring together precise control, edge longevity, and ergonomic balance—perfect for tackling heavier fabrics without sacrificing accuracy or comfort. With its high carbon, hardened stainless steel construction and a design tuned for thick materials, this is a cutting tool you’ll reach for again and again as you bring complex projects from concept to finished piece.

6, 3 or 1 MicronDiamond AbrasiveConditions Leather StropsEasy Eyedropper Application
This kit includes 3 grits a one Micron, a three Micron and a six Micron, each in a .5 oz container.
Sharp Condition is an intentional play on words. Sharp because it is the condition your blade will be in after use, and condition because it will condition the leather that it is applied to as the diamonds are suspended in a high quality leather conditioner.
Why it was developed- I was frustrated with some of the other products in the market, and I developed my own because I needed it to sharpen the knives I make. One of the problems we were looking to solve was how to apply it; many of the diamond products out there come in spray bottles. Over time, I found that the spray bottle mechanism would get eaten up by the abrasive that it was spraying, and, you would end up getting costly liquid in places outside of exactly where you wanted it. The solution was to use an eyedropper bottle, and the consistency of skin cream allows you to put it exactly where you want it. The waxy consistency of the leather conditioning lotion makes the motion across the leather very smooth and effortless.
A single bevel blade (for right handed use), designed for all purpose utility.
Made in Japan. Boxed.
**Extra care is required with carbon steel. No soaking or dishwashers! Dry well in between uses to avoid rust. Blade will develop a patina (discoloration) with normal use.
**To avoid chipping, keep away from thick bones, frozen foods or other hard foods and pits.

Kai® 7230 - 9 Inch Professional Shears are built for serious sewists who regularly tackle thick, demanding fabrics. This lighter, highly maneuverable pair delivers powerhouse cutting without the fatigue, giving you clean, precise trims from denim to heavyweight knits.Smart design meets serious cutting power. The 7230 belongs to Kai’s 7000 Professional Series and is crafted from high carbon, hardened stainless steel. That carbon content enables a steeper cutting angle, producing a sharper edge that lasts longer under heavy use. The result is a scissors pair that handles hefty fabrics with ease while maintaining the nimble feel you expect from a slimmer-line design.
Balanced Slim Line construction: at a practical 6.8 ounces, these shears provide enough leverage for thick cuts while staying light enough to minimize hand strain during long sessions.
Narrow, versatile profile: the slim silhouette excels in tight spaces, layered fabrics, and intricate trimming, guiding you through complex patterns without crowding the work area.
Edge longevity for thick fabrics: the carbon-enhanced edge stays sharper longer, so you’ll resharpen less often when working with denim, heavy twill, or heavy knits.
9-inch blade, broad versatility: ideal for dressmaking, tailoring, and quilting tasks that demand precision without sacrificing speed.
Ideal use casesWhether you’re preparing denim panels, cutting heavyweight canvas for upholstery projects, or trimming layered fabrics for precise seams, the Kai 7230 delivers consistent, dependable cuts. It’s especially valuable when you need to snip along curved seams, notch corners, or trim bulky hems where a larger pair can crowd the workspace. What makes Kai different from other shears
Edge-focused construction: a high carbon content paired with hardened stainless steel creates a durable cutting edge that maintains sharpness under tough fabrics, reducing the need for frequent sharpening.
Thoughtful ergonomics: the slim-line cut and balanced weight minimize hand strain, enabling longer cutting sessions with comfort and control.
Professional-grade reliability: designed to perform consistently across sewing disciplines—from garment construction to home decor—so one pair can handle a wide range of projects.
Care, maintenance, and practical tipsTo preserve performance and edge life, wipe the blades after use to remove fabric fibers and moisture. A light application of manufacturer-approved oil helps prevent rust and keeps the pivot smooth. Store in a dry place and avoid dropping the shears, which can misalign the cutting edge. If the edge dulls over time, light sharpening aligned with the original bevel angle will restore precision without compromising the blade’s integrity.Who should consider the Kai 7230Ideal for professional sewists and serious hobbyists who frequently work with denim, canvas, heavy knits, or multi-layer projects, and who need a single, reliable pair of shears that can handle both bold, structural cuts and fine, detailed trimming with equal accuracy.

Blade made of CPM Magnacut steel
The blade of this Spyderco Manix, Salt is made of CPM Magnacut steel, possibly the most revolutionary steel of the 21st century. MagnaCut offers an unrivalled balance between sharpness retention, toughness, corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. Since the release of CPM MagnaCut in 2021, it has become one of the most popular steels in the world of knives. The MagnaCut blade of this pocket knife measures 9.9 cm in length.
History of CPM Magnacut
This type of steel was developed by Dr Larrin Thomas, a metallurgist who has dedicated his career to improving knife steel. He is the son of Devin Thomas, a famous damascus smith who supplied Chris Reeve Knives with steel for many years. Dr Larrin Thomas works in the automotive industry but is passionate about knife steels. He thought it should be possible to do better, and together with Crucible Industries came up with CPM MagnaCut.
The blade is finished with a DLC coating, which stands for ‘Diamond Like Carbon’. It's a very hard coating that is even harder than the steel. This makes DLC very scratch-resistant, and this coating protects the blade against corrosion. DLC is very hard, but it is also only a thin layer: eventually, you will always see signs of use.
